Saturday skin care routine is one of my fav things because I have enough time in the world to pamper my skin from head to toe 🙂
My routine today involves a mild but effective DIY exfoliating and moisturising body scrub recipe that I love soooooo much.
This recipe includes three main basic ingredients which are: Brown sugar, Raw shea butter and Castor oil.
Brown Sugar (granulated) – It’s mild, coarse texture makes it an excellent skin exfoliant and cleanser. It also contains glycolic acid which aids the removal of dead skin cells to reveal a smoother and brighter skin. You can get this off a supermarket shelf.
Raw Shea Butter – I think it’s only right to say that it’s a holy grail butter when it comes to moisturising dry or dull looking skin. You can get this from the local market, supermarket or an online store.
Castor oil – Holy grail oil for me. I use this on my hair and skin because of its deep moisture sealing properties. You can purchase yours from here.
I always love to prepare a fresh mix just before getting in the bathroom but on the average a mixture of this recipe stored in an airtight container could last up to a week.
• it’s totally inexpensive
• requires only a few minutes to prepare by simply following the above directions
• works excellently for brightening skin on face, knees, underarms, feet, elbows and all over body.
• could make your tub slippery so extra care and wash might be required
• would not be a nice treat for face with oily skin as this might cause more breakouts. So I’d recommend use for only on skin from the neck down.
